Dick Scoville and Seabiscuit

Dick Scoville attended the "Day at the Races," at Santa Anita Race Track in March 2003 and had an opportunity to pose beside the statute honoring the legendary "Seabiscuit."

"Seabiscuit" was nominated for an Academy Award for best picture with many  scenes shot at Santa Anita in December 2002.  The movie was released July 2003.

Bummer . . . it Rains in Paradise

Jim Carr getting his morning newspaper "styling" beneath a vogue Banana Leaf umbrella.
I think I'd get a dog and teach him to fetch the paper before I'd go outside and risk being seen under that thing.

Jack Taylor

Jack went to Edison Elementary School in Altadena, then to Eliot Junior High School for the 7th, 8th and 10th grade.  The 9th grade he attended the Army-Navy Military School at Carlsbad.  He was an 11th grade classmate at Muir then joined the United States Air Force.

On the evening of July 10, 2001, Jack  dined with Ed Moses and Aileen Harbison (Skinner) at Antonello's in the South Coast Plaza in Orange County.  They reminisced about their "home room" teachers at Edison and the Friday night dances, Eliot and the dances at the Altadena Town and Country Club.  Last but not least, the dialogue turned to Muir.  It was a delightful micro mini reunion.

Actually this was the first of the "Back To The Future"  movies with these '56 grads somehow appearing in a Rod in front of newly remodeled John Muir High School in 2001.  "Hal" the computer somehow malfunctioned.

Jim Carr's '41 Ford Convertible
Jim Carr owned a baby blue  '41 Ford convertible, and many a summer night, Ed Moses, Ron Hritz, Dave Johnson and Jim Carr cruised Colorado Boulevard, peeling out through Bob's Big Boy, Henry's Rite Spot, Gwinn's or other teenage gathering spots.  We spent our youth, crusin' in bitchin' hot rod cars, makin' out with girls at the drive-in theatres, listening to non-stop rock-n-roll blasting from the car radio from such legendary DJ's as Wolfman Jack or Dick Hug "Huggie Boy" broadcasting from downtown 7th and Central. We never raced for "pink slips," but wore those characteristic hair (duck-tails) and clothing styles.  All of this created a trend for popular teen-oriented films such as "American Graffiti," where we all relived those magical wonderful nostalgic memories.

Another Long Beach Pike photograph circa 1955-56.  The "Fun Zone" was really the fun zone. Where have all the "fun zone's" gone?
