The car is the latest in my collection of toys. I ran it with some success the 1st weekend of April at Willow Springs. It has a highly modified Model B Ford engine, with full pressure oil system and an overhead valve head.

The car's history is little known prior to it's restoration. It probably made the rounds of So Cal tracks in the 30's and 40's. It looks like the last race for the car this year (other than exhibitions) will be at Buttonwillow (off I-5, near Bakersfield) May 3rd, and 4th.

We're going to try to make an exhibition at California Speedway at Fontana on Nov. 1st.

I was able to edge out the Bugatti in the background on the last turn of the last lap of Saturdays' qualification race. But, I put my car up on the trailer Sunday, due to recurring problems with the oil pressure.

The fellow in the Bugatti took the class win on Sunday. We think we've got the "bugs" worked out; and are going to have another go at the Bugatti at Buttonwillow. I'm the only one in our group of historic race cars participating in the Vintage Racing Association that hasn't received an invitation for this year's Monterey Historic Automobile Races at Laguna Seca. It's not for any reason other than I didn't get an entry submitted in time.
Maybe next year, if my pedigree checks out. The reason I parked the car Sunday was that the fluctuations of the oil pressure were distracting. I think you can see my baby blues concentrating on an oil pressure gauge, rather that the track. Not good at over 100mph!!

I got an invite from Victory Lane Magazine to run my car in their vintage Indy/Champ Car exhibition races during the CART races at Michigan International Raceway next month. I don't want to tow that far; but, what means is that I'll probably get an invite to run in the West Coast event on the weekend of November 1st.

I'll keep you abreast; maybe, if they give an early enough notice, we can have a get-together.
See ya,

JOHN
